No idea

  1. One day not long ago, Mom took me shopping and let me pick out some of the cutest dresses and some new shoes. Then she took us both to the hair salon and got our hair styled and mani-pedis, It was the best day ever.

Over ice cream after the salon, she told me she loved me and was so happy I was her younger daughter. I smiled and told her I loved her too.

"Jenny, I always wanted another daughter but it just didn't work out. I tried for a couple of years to get pregnant and then found out it would never happen again. It was my body that couldn't get pregnant. I tried to accept that having one perfect daughter would be fulfilling but I still longed for another. Someone who would keep me company when your sister moved out for college or got married. Then you came along. I know it must have been a little difficult to adapt to being such a young girl but I really worked hard on the spell. You were convenient, with no family, on your own and you took my daughter's virginity. Even if she wanted to do it, it was something I could not forgive." Mom took another spoonful of strawberry and patted her lips with the napkin.

"Anyway, by now, you barely remember being that boy, do you? You clearly enjoy being a girl, you act so perfectly, just as I wished for. It's for the best. Your older sister is seeing a much nicer young man who is doing very well in college and I can see them getting married in a year or two. Now, hurry up and finish your ice cream, we need to get home and get your new clothes put away in time to cook dinner for daddy. Tomorrow, you can wear that pink dress to school, won't that be fun?"

"Yes mommy, I think that will be wonderful." I finished my ice cream, wondering what all that silly talk was about. I mean, I remember growing up as her daughter. There are videos of me learning to walk and ride a bike. I think boys are yucky, who cares who my sister dates? Getting married, who cares anyway? I'll miss her if she moves out though. I bet Mary Beth will be jealous of that dress tomorrow.
