This is quite a wonderful epic you wrote here. It was a bet between two friends that one lost. The mother of the man who lost the bet helped her tyro daughter evolve from her former son to an insecure yet optimistic young woman. They also benefitted in their relationship. Her mother gained a daughter and the beginner woman gained a close friendship she didn't have with her mother as a male.
